CHILE ARICA Visit Gaura mandala, an oasis in the Atacama desert, half an hour from Arica which is the ocean city of Chile. As we continue on the Panamerican route of the Andean sun we reach the city of Arica . Here we stop at Govinda's purely vegetarian restaurant. There are Yoga classes and several programs of the Vaisnava Academy.
But the best is the farm. Called Gaura Mandala, this place is an oasis in the Atacama desert. Half an hour from Arica, it's close to the highway leading to Bolivia and to the train station as well. Here is an artists' community which is developing the type of construction which perfectly suits the environment: mud conic structures called Trullis by the local residence.
They serve for living quarters and for meditation. The land is fertile and the river Lluta is the reason people can live here. Regular programs can be coordinated with our tours. The program is still in the beginning stages but can perfectly host some inbound school students who do not mind a little austerity in the natural environment.
Besides bathing and trecking through the desert you can also go see archeological sights or bathe on the beaches close to Arica.
